Dubai has launched a new package of temporary economic support measures aimed at helping businesses manage current market pressures. According to the official announcement published by Dubai Media Office, Sheikh Hamdan approved an AED 1 billion package of economic facilitations to be implemented over 3 to 6 months starting from 1 April 2026. The package is designed to support businesses, strengthen liquidity and improve market resilience - Government of Dubai Media Office.

What is included in the package

The support package is broader than a simple fee deferral.

According to the official announcement, Dubai will extend customs data grace periods from 30 to 90 days, with the option of further extension subject to compliance with the applicable tax legislation. The government will also streamline the issuing and renewal of residency permits, making it easier for talent to live and work in Dubai - Government of Dubai Media Office.

At the same time, a DET notice circulated to establishments in Dubai states that several DET-related fees will be deferred for 3 months from 1 April 2026. The notice lists the following items:
  • fees for amendments to trade licences
  • advertising fees on trade licences
  • local fees on trade licences
  • optional fees related to trade names

Why this matters for businesses

In practical terms, the package affects three areas at once.

The first is liquidity. A temporary deferral of certain fees can reduce short-term payment pressure for companies that are currently renewing, amending or updating their licences.

The second is trade operations. A longer customs data grace period may give businesses more flexibility in handling customs-related timelines, especially where import, export or supply-chain processes are involved.

The third is workforce mobility. Faster and simpler issuing and renewal of residency permits can reduce administrative friction for companies hiring or retaining employees in Dubai. The official announcement explicitly frames these measures as part of a broader effort to support the business community and sustain growth - Government of Dubai Media Office.

What companies should do now

Businesses in Dubai should review whether they have any upcoming DET-related actions in Q2 2026, especially licence amendments, trade name actions or other licence-linked payments.

It is also worth checking whether the company’s operations may benefit from the longer customs data grace period, and whether any upcoming hiring or residency renewals could become easier under the updated process.

At the same time, businesses should remember that a fee deferral is not the same as a waiver. Payment timing may change, but the obligation itself is not necessarily removed.
